What Is AQUAPROTECT Stone Varnish Used For?

AQUAPROTECT Stone Varnish by BAYRIS is suitable for:

  • natural and artificial stone

  • brick and clinker

  • fireplace cladding

  • concrete and other mineral surfaces

  • façades and fences

Suitable for both exterior and interior use.

Does the Varnish Create a Wet Stone Effect?

Yes. AQUAPROTECT Stone Varnish creates a pronounced wet stone effect, enhancing the depth of colour and surface texture while leaving a transparent silky-matt finish.

Does the Façade Varnish Protect Against Moisture?

Yes. The coating:

  • provides high water repellency (Class W2)

  • reduces the risk of efflorescence

  • protects against moss, algae, and mould

  • is resistant to UV radiation and weathering

Helps extend the service life of the façade.

Important! AQUAPROTECT Façade Stone Varnish by BAYRIS does not remove existing efflorescence.

Efflorescence is a salt deposit that forms as a result of:

  • salts present in mortar, concrete, or stone

  • moisture penetrating into the structure

  • water evaporating from the surface and carrying salts to the exterior

Before applying the varnish, efflorescence must be completely removed using specialist cleaning products designed for mineral surfaces.

If the structure remains subject to постоян moisture exposure (capillary rise, leaks, or lack of waterproofing), efflorescence may reappear even after cleaning and varnishing.

The varnish reduces water absorption and lowers the risk of efflorescence returning, but it does not eliminate the underlying cause.

What Is the Coverage Rate of Stone Varnish?

Coverage rate: 8–12 m²/L per coat.

For maximum protection, 2–3 coats are recommended.

Available pack sizes: 1 L and 3 L.

Can Stone Varnish Be Used on Paving Slabs?

No. AQUAPROTECT is not intended for:

  • horizontal surfaces exposed to heavy traffic and wear

  • paving slabs

  • garden paths

  • polished and glazed surfaces.

For painting and protecting paving slabs or block paving, specialised products are available, such as Profi Bruk Paint by BAYRIS — a professional paint-impregnator for block paving and concrete surfaces.

How Long Does Stone Varnish Take to Dry?

Between coats: 2–4 hours.
Full performance properties are achieved after 28 days.

During this period, intensive cleaning of the surface is not recommended.
