Description and properties
Facade varnish "AQUAPROTECT" by TM "Bayris" ("Aquaprotect") protects against dirt, mould, fungi and UV radiation, prevents darkening and preserves the original texture and colour of the surface. The product has excellent adhesion to the substrate. "Aquaprotect" is a facade varnish that does not cause allergic reactions or irritation. Free from strong odours and highly toxic substances. Its environmental benefits are confirmed in accordance with the requirements of the international standard DSTU ISO 14024.
In liquid form, the varnish is milky white. After drying, "Aquaprotect" by Bayris forms a transparent, durable, breathable, weather-resistant and elastic film capable of repelling water. The varnish is resistant to water and detergents. Do not use on surfaces exposed to intensive mechanical wear. The VOC migration level complies with the requirements of Ukrainian sanitary legislation according to MV 8.8.2.4.-097-02 and the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Atmospheric Air" No. 2707-XII dated 16.10.1992.
Purpose
"AQUAPROTECT" by TM "Bayris" is a facade varnish intended for decorative and protective finishing of surfaces in all types of buildings and structures exposed to weather conditions and mechanical impact. Suitable for application on timber facades and structures, garden gazebos, gates, as well as concrete, renders, brickwork, tiles and artificial stone. Effective for sealing smooth, highly absorbent substrates. Suitable for both interior and exterior use.
Surface preparation
The substrate to be varnished must be properly prepared and should be seasoned, sanded, even, sound, degreased, visually clean, dry, free from dust, mould, fungi, old coatings and suitable for treatment. Previously unvarnished timber surfaces should be pre-treated with "AQUAGRUNT" ultra-bioprotective impregnating primer by Bayris in one or two coats. Previously unvarnished mineral surfaces should be pre-treated with Bayris Acrylic Primer. Priming reduces varnish consumption, strengthens the substrate structure and evens out absorbency.
Application
Before and during application, stir the varnish thoroughly until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. Apply at substrate and ambient temperatures between +12°C and +25°C and relative humidity between 50% and 70%. If necessary, dilute the varnish with water for the first coat only, by no more than 5%, to achieve the required viscosity. Apply along the surface using smooth, continuous movements in a thin, even coat with a brush, roller or spray gun, applying two to three coats in succession. The minimum interval between coats is 2–3 hours. Minor roughness may be removed with fine-grit sandpaper after the applied coat has fully dried. Clean tools with water immediately after use. The varnish can be tinted manually or by machine using water-based pigment pastes. Drying time is 2–3 hours per coat at an air temperature of (20±2)°C and relative humidity not exceeding 65%. The coating reaches its final wear resistance after one month. Coverage is (8–10) m²/L per coat depending on the substrate type, application method and painting tools used.
Suitable for application on timber façades and structures, garden gazebos, gates, as well as concrete, renders, brickwork, tiles and artificial stone.
