Purpose
Bioprotective Wood Impregnant "AQUAGRUNT" by Bayris is designed to protect timber against biological degradation, decay and mould. It prevents the growth of algae, lichens, mosses, mould fungi and blue stain fungi. It is also used for protection and prevention against wood-boring insects and pests that may damage timber (woodworm, bark beetles, furniture beetles, etc.). Suitable for the protection of timber elements in buildings (windows, doors, cladding, frames, log structures, etc.) and any other timber exposed to high service loads but without direct ground contact (rafters, supports, floors, fences, gazebos, garden furniture, posts, load-bearing timber structures, etc.). Suitable for domestic, professional and industrial use under Use Classes 1–3 in accordance with DSTU EN 335-1:2010.
Characteristics
Ready-to-use "Aquagrunt" Impregnant by Bayris is resistant to leaching during service life and provides long-term protection against a broad spectrum of biological attack. It does not alter the structure or colour of the timber, does not cause chemical degradation of cellulose in the surface layer, and does not form a polymer film or salt deposits.
It is used as a primer treatment before the application of decorative and protective coatings (paints, enamels, varnishes, impregnating treatments, wood stains, varnish stains, etc.).
Drying time
4–6 hours for each coat at a relative air humidity of 50–75%.
Coverage
150–250 ml/m² depending on the timber service environment: from 0.15 L/m² for interior use and exterior use under shelter; from 0.25 L/m² where the substrate is exposed to rainfall. Actual consumption may increase depending on the timber species, structure, application method, absorbency of the timber and the size of the treated surface.
Surface preparation
The substrate must be visually clean, free from dust, signs of biological activity, stains and decay damage, and suitable for treatment (mechanically clean if necessary). The moisture content of the timber must not exceed 25%.
Application
Application should be carried out at substrate and ambient temperatures between +5°C and +25°C and at a relative air humidity of 50–75%. Stir the impregnating treatment thoroughly before use.
Bioprotective Wood Impregnant "Aquagrunt" by TM Bayris should be applied evenly using a brush, scrubbing brush, roller or spray equipment. To ensure effective protection, apply 1–2 coats in accordance with the recommended coverage rates. Clean tools with water immediately after application. Rooms where timber has been treated with the impregnating treatment may be used after three days of intensive ventilation.
