Description and properties
Universal “Rubber Paint” by TM “Bayris” is designed for the decorative and protective coating of galvanised metal, brick, concrete, roof tiles, onduline roofing sheets and similar surfaces. It is suitable for painting facades, fences, plinths, brick and stone masonry, pre-primed ferrous metal, natural stone, timber, plywood, chipboard, fibreboard, cement-bonded particle boards, wallpapers and other substrates.
The paint can also be used for downpipes, gutters and drainage systems, repairing roof cracks and openings, as well as painting walls in bathrooms, kitchens, corridors, retail premises, playgrounds, sports facilities, healthcare buildings and similar environments. Not suitable for terraces or floor surfaces.
The product is available in 5 ready-made colours and two tinting bases (Base A – white, Base C – transparent). Suitable for both exterior and interior applications.
Characteristics
Universal “Rubber Paint” by TM “Bayris” creates a decorative coating that is resistant to intensive cleaning (Class 1 according to EN 13300) and temperature fluctuations. It offers high elasticity and helps prevent corrosion on metal surfaces. The paint is free from strong odours and toxic substances.
The resulting coating is matt (gloss class G3), fine-textured (particle size class S1 – less than 100 μm), medium-build (dry film thickness class E2 – less than 100 μm), moderately vapour permeable (class V2 – Sd < 1.4 m) and highly water-repellent (water permeability class W2 ≤ 0.25 kg/(m²·h0.5)).
Environmental benefits are confirmed in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14024.
Product and surface preparation
Surface preparation must be carried out according to relevant construction and coating standards. The substrate should be sound, clean, dry and free from contaminants.
For galvanised and metal surfaces: remove loose paint, rust, mill scale, white rust and other contaminants using a scraper, wire brush or grinding equipment. Degrease the surface using “PROFI ROOF CLEANER” by TM “Bayris” according to the product instructions. After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with water (preferably under pressure) and allow the surface to dry completely.
Areas cleaned back to bare metal and new steel surfaces must be primed with “PRIMER 2in1” anticorrosive primer by TM “Bayris”. New galvanised surfaces should only be painted after natural weathering has dulled the surface finish (typically after one heating season).
For concrete and other mineral substrates: the substrate must be sound, evenly absorbent, degreased, visually clean, dry and free from dust, mould and biological growth. After cleaning, prime the surface with “DPA GRUNT” by TM “Bayris” using a wet-on-wet method until full saturation is achieved and allow at least 72 hours curing under normal conditions.
The priming stage equalises substrate absorbency, improves adhesion and reduces the risk of moss, algae, mould and fungal growth. Prior to painting, substrate moisture content must not exceed 4%.
Application
Before use, Universal “Rubber Paint” by TM “Bayris” should be thoroughly mixed with a low-speed mixer until homogeneous.
The surface must be dry and warmer than the surrounding air. Application should be carried out at ambient temperatures above +10°C and relative humidity not exceeding 80%. To prevent excessively rapid drying, substrate temperature should not exceed +30°C.
Do not apply the paint during strong winds, rainfall or direct sunlight. Roof painting should be planned to ensure that the coating dries before evening dew forms.
To increase drying time, the paint may be diluted with up to 10% water for the first coat and no more than 5% for subsequent coats. The same amount of water should be added to all containers.
Apply in two coats using a brush, roller or spray equipment. The interval between coats is 1–4 hours depending on weather conditions. For large surfaces, apply continuously using the “wet-on-wet” method and use paint from the same batch or mix batches together to ensure colour consistency.
When using airless spray equipment, select the lowest pressure that still provides a uniform spray pattern without edge tails. The spray angle should be adjusted according to the geometry of the structure being painted, and filtering the paint before spraying is recommended.
Wash tools with water immediately after use. Freshly applied paint must be protected from weather exposure for 12–24 hours, depending on conditions.
The coating reaches full wash resistance after approximately one month. To ensure colour consistency, mixing paint from different production batches is recommended.
Important! Failure to follow these instructions may reduce coating performance and durability. The coating reaches its full properties 28 days after application.
Manufacturer’s warranty: the manufacturer guarantees compliance with the declared technical specifications. Any modification of the product, misuse or application contrary to the instructions may significantly affect performance. The suitability of the product for specific substrates and compatibility with other materials must be determined by trial application. The manufacturer accepts no liability for direct or indirect damage resulting from circumstances beyond its control.
Tinting
Universal Rubber Paint “Rubber Paint” by TM “Bayris” is available in 5 ready-made colours inspired by RAL shades.
Base A is used as white paint and for tinting into light shades using water-based or universal pigment pastes by manual or machine tinting methods. Base C is intended exclusively for tinting into bright and highly saturated colours.
The final colour develops after the paint has fully dried. Tinted paint cannot be returned or exchanged. The paint can be tinted using the Bayris Color System or manually with colourants. Slight colour deviations from the reference shade may occur after drying.
