How to Dilute Efflorescence Remover?

Efflorescence and dirt remover concentrate by TM Bayris is diluted with water at ratios from 1:1 (heavy contamination, cement residue) up to 1:20 (light dust and deposits). The dilution ratio depends on the level of contamination.

Can It Remove Cement and Grout Residue?

Yes. The product effectively removes cement residue, grout and construction dirt after tile or brick installation.

How to Remove Efflorescence from Brick or Façades?

Efflorescence and dirt remover by TM Bayris is an acidic façade cleaner that effectively dissolves salt deposits, cement residue and construction dirt. After application, the surface must be thoroughly rinsed with water.

Why Does Efflorescence Appear on Surfaces?

Efflorescence is a white deposit that forms due to the movement of moisture within a material. Water dissolves salts and mineral compounds in brick, concrete or plaster and, as it evaporates, leaves them on the surface. This is a natural physico-chemical process and does not always indicate a material defect. Prevention includes limiting moisture exposure, ensuring proper waterproofing and applying hydrophobic protection to the surface.

What Is the Coverage Rate and Should It Be Diluted?

The approximate consumption rate is 0.1–0.2 l/m² per coat, depending on the absorbency of the substrate.

The product is ready to use. Dilution or alteration of the composition may affect the quality and durability of the coating.

Can the Product Be Applied Indoors?

Yes. The product has a low VOC content, no strong odour, contains no toxic substances and is suitable for indoor use.

Does It Protect Against Efflorescence and Bio-Growth?

The product reduces the risk of efflorescence, moss, algae, fungi and mould growth by decreasing water absorption.

However, it does not remove existing efflorescence — the surface must be cleaned beforehand.

⚠️ Please note!

If moisture constantly rises from below (from foundations or soil) or penetrates through an unprotected chimney (for example brick, clinker or stone-clad), a capillary moisture effect may occur. In such cases, surface hydrophobisation alone will not solve the problem, as moisture will continue spreading inside the structure. The source of water penetration must first be eliminated.
How Does It Differ from Siloxane Sealers?

An acrylic water repellent creates a transparent protective coating with a colour-enhancing “wet stone” effect.
Siloxane water repellents usually do not change the appearance of the surface and work more as an invisible impregnation treatment.

Which Surfaces Is It Suitable For?

Suitable for concrete, reinforced concrete, asbestos-cement, brick, stone, cement-sand plasters, ceramic products and fences. For both interior and exterior applications.

What Is the DELFIN Water Repellent and What Is It Used For?

DELFIN is an acrylic water-repellent agent for concrete, brick, stone, plasters and ceramics. It forms a water-repellent, vapour-permeable coating with a decorative “wet stone” effect.

How to Apply a Water-Repellent Properly?

Apply using the “wet-on-wet” method with a brush, roller or spray at a temperature from +8°C to +30°C. Do not dilute with water.

Can It Be Applied Indoors?

Yes, Hydro Stop by Bayris is suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

Does a Water-Repellent Help Against Efflorescence?

Yes. A water-repellent reduces the water absorption of the substrate and blocks the penetration of atmospheric moisture, significantly lowering the risk of efflorescence on brick and concrete.

Important to understand:

  • Efflorescence consists of salts already present within the material.

  • They reach the surface together with moisture.

  • The impregnation does not remove existing efflorescence and is not a cleaning agent.

Before application it is necessary to:

  • completely remove efflorescence mechanically or with specialised cleaners;

  • dry the surface;

  • only then apply the water-repellent treatment.

⚠️ Note.
If moisture continuously rises into the wall from below (foundation, soil, lack of waterproofing), i.e. capillary rise occurs, surface hydrophobisation alone will not fully solve the problem. In such cases, proper horizontal or vertical waterproofing is required.

A water repellent acts as protection against atmospheric moisture but does not replace full structural waterproofing.

Does the Product Create Gloss or a Film?

No. The coating does not form a film, does not change the surface texture and does not create any gloss.
