Description and properties
“Mattlatex” interior latex paint for walls and ceilings by TM “Bayris” is a white matt paint designed for decorative and protective coating of walls and ceilings in dry and humid indoor environments exposed to intensive use. It is suitable for residential, office and public buildings with moderate operational wear. The paint can be applied to new or previously painted water-dispersion surfaces made of cement-lime, cement and lime plasters, gypsum plasters, plasterboard, concrete, brick, wood and wood-based materials, as well as paintable wallpapers.
“Mattlatex” TM “Bayris” is easy to apply and offers excellent hiding power (Class 1 at a coverage rate of 6 m²/l). The resulting coating is white, matt and effectively conceals minor surface imperfections. It is vapour permeable and allows water vapour to pass through the coating. The finish is resistant to wet cleaning (Class 3 wash resistance). Environmental benefits are confirmed in accordance with the international ISO 14024 standard. Free from strong odours and toxic substances.
Surface preparation
The substrate must be carefully prepared before painting. It should be sound, evenly absorbent, degreased, visually clean, dry and free from dust, mould and other biological contamination. Fresh cement-lime plasters should be painted after 3–4 weeks from application, while gypsum plasters should be painted after 2 weeks. Poorly adhering glue-based or lime-based coatings should be removed. Existing emulsion paint coatings with good adhesion should be washed with water and detergent, rinsed with clean water and allowed to dry. Cracks and uneven areas should be repaired with filler. Areas affected by mould should be treated with “Bio Stop” by TM Bayris according to the instructions. Highly absorbent or weak surfaces should be primed with “Profi Grunt” by TM Bayris according to the instructions. Non-woven and fibreglass wallpapers should be painted in accordance with the wallpaper manufacturer's recommendations.
Application
Before use, stir the paint thoroughly until a uniform consistency is achieved. Prepare a sufficient quantity of paint to complete one continuous surface area. When tinting paint from different production batches or pack sizes, mix all containers together before application. Do not add lime or mix with other types of emulsion paint. The paint can be applied by brush, roller or spray in 1–2 coats with an interval of 2–4 hours between coats. Some bright and intense colours may require an additional coat. Apply at substrate and ambient temperatures between +10 °C and +30 °C. To ensure colour consistency on large surfaces, use the “wet-on-wet” application method without interruption. If breaks are necessary, stop at corners or natural joints where they will be least visible. Wash tools with water immediately after use. During and after painting, ventilate the room until any residual odour has disappeared.
Important! Under normal conditions, the paint film develops its full performance properties after 28 days. Avoid intensive use of the painted surface during this period. The painted surface may be cleaned with water or a warm soapy solution using a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid hard-bristled brushes, as excessive scrubbing may create glossy patches on the matt finish.
Tinting
The white paint is supplied ready for use. The paint can be tinted using Bayris System tinting equipment or manually with colourants.
Tinted paint cannot be returned or exchanged.
