Purpose
"BASE-GRUNT" Primer Treatment by TM Bayris ("Base-Grunt" by TM Bayris) is designed to protect timber against biological degradation, decay and mould. The deep-preserving wood primer treatment "Base-Grunt" prevents the growth of algae, lichens, mosses, fungi, mould and blue stain. It is also used for protection and prevention against wood-boring insects and pests that may damage timber (woodworm, bark beetles, furniture beetles, etc.). Suitable for the protection of timber elements in buildings (windows, doors, cladding, frames, log structures, etc.) and any other timber exposed to high service loads but without direct ground contact (rafters, supports, floors, fences, gazebos, garden furniture, posts, load-bearing timber structures, etc.).
Suitable for domestic, industrial and professional use under Use Classes 1–3 in accordance with DSTU EN 335-1:2010. The product is manufactured in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
Characteristics
Ready-to-use special primer treatment "Base-Grunt" by TM Bayris is resistant to leaching during service life and provides long-term protection against a broad spectrum of biological attack. It does not alter the structure or colour of the timber, does not cause chemical degradation of cellulose in the surface layer, and does not form a polymer film or salt deposits.
"Base-Grunt" equalises substrate absorbency and reduces the consumption of subsequent decorative and protective coatings.
Drying time
2–4 hours for each coat at a relative air humidity of 50–75%.
Coverage
120–150 ml/m² – depending on the timber species, structure, application method, absorbency of the timber and the size of the treated surface.
Surface preparation
The substrate must be visually clean, free from dust, signs of biological activity, stains and decay damage, and suitable for treatment (mechanically clean if necessary). The moisture content of the timber must not exceed 18%.
Application
Application should be carried out at substrate and ambient temperatures between +5°C and +25°C and at a relative air humidity of 50–75%. Before use, the "Base-Grunt" Primer Treatment by TM Bayris must be stirred thoroughly.
Apply evenly by brush, scrubbing brush, roller or spray equipment. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Rooms where timber has been treated with this product may be used after three days of intensive ventilation.
A single coat is sufficient to provide the required protective properties.
