Description and Properties
Acrylic-Polyurethane Gloss Varnish "PARQUET VARNISH" by Bayris from the PROM-DECOR range is designed for wooden floors, parquet flooring and staircases for interior use. It can also be used for varnishing a wide range of timber and wood-based elements and products, including windows, doors, furniture, handrails, hardboard, MDF, OSB and similar surfaces. It creates a durable and hard-wearing finish that does not yellow or alter the natural colour of the wood. The varnish enhances and highlights the natural beauty of timber while helping to prevent drying and cracking. It is also recommended for surfaces previously coated with coloured water-based wood stains.
Product and Surface Preparation
Stir the varnish thoroughly before use. The substrate must be dry, clean and free from dust, grease, wax and other contaminants. Previously coated surfaces should be sanded with fine-grit sandpaper and thoroughly dusted. Timber moisture content must not exceed 11%. Cracks and signs of mechanical damage should be filled with a suitable wood filler. Knots in fresh timber should be treated with a resin-blocking product. To minimise the risk of yellowing, fresh timber should be primed with a suitable wood primer.
Application
Stir the varnish occasionally during application. Apply when the surface and ambient temperature are between +10°C and +25°C. Apply with a brush or roller in a thin, even coat along the grain of the wood. Subsequent coats should be applied only after the previous coat has dried, but not earlier than 3 hours after application. Avoid runs and sagging. Light sanding between coats with fine-grit sandpaper is recommended. After each coat, protect the surface from water and dust until fully dry. Avoid draughts in the room during application and drying.
Attention! It is recommended to carry out a test application on a small area to familiarise yourself with the varnish properties and application technique. Drying time and the final appearance depend on the timber species, grade, quality, moisture content and environmental conditions during application.
Attention! The final decorative effect depends on the degree of sanding, timber species and application method. When coating large areas, use varnish from the same production batch or mix products from different batches together in one container before application.
