Intended Use

Hydro Stop Siloxane Water Repellent Impregnation by BAYRIS is designed for the surface hydrophobisation of substrates to provide a durable water-repellent finish. Suitable for application on concrete, brick, natural sandstone, mineral renders and other porous substrates. It can also be used to improve the water-repellent properties of emulsion paints and acrylic renders. Recommended for the treatment of sculptures, façades, stone structures, slate, clay products and aerated concrete. The product is less suitable for low-absorbency, dense natural stone surfaces, particularly limestone and marble. Suitable for both interior and exterior use.

Characteristics

Hydro Stop Water Repellent Impregnation is a ready-to-use product with no strong odour and no toxic substances. It penetrates deeply into the substrate and creates a hydrophobic barrier that effectively repels water and provides a self-cleaning effect. It helps prevent efflorescence and surface contamination, while reducing the risk of fungal and mould growth. It improves frost resistance, does not form a film and does not create a glossy finish.

Surface Preparation

Prepare the substrate in accordance with applicable construction standards and best practice. The surface must be visibly clean, dry and free from loose material. If necessary, remove dirt, dust, grease, biological contamination and other impurities.

Application

Apply when the substrate and ambient temperature are between +8°C and +30°C (avoiding direct sunlight) and relative humidity is between 50% and 80%. Do not dilute with water. Stir thoroughly before use. Apply evenly in a continuous “wet-on-wet” method using a brush, roller, masonry brush or spray equipment, following the recommended coverage rates. Clean tools with water immediately after use.

Warning! Any modification of the product, use for purposes other than those intended and/or failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions may significantly affect product performance. The suitability of the product for specific materials and/or compatibility with other materials must be determined by the user through testing. The manufacturer accepts no liability for direct or indirect losses resulting from product use, as it is not possible to control all application conditions.

Coverage

Approximately 0.15–0.3 L/m² per coat depending on the type of surface and its absorbency.

Safety and Disposal

Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Seek medical advice if necessary. Construction waste must not be disposed of in general household waste containers. Dispose of waste materials in accordance with local regulations. Empty containers and liquid residues should be taken to authorised hazardous waste collection facilities.

VOC Content

The VOC content of Hydro Stop Siloxane Water Repellent Impregnation by BAYRIS complies with the requirements for VOC emission limits for primers, maximum 30 g/L. The actual VOC content of the ready-to-use product does not exceed 9 g/L.

FAQ
What Is a Water-Repellent Impregnation and How Does It Work?

A water-repellent impregnation is a siloxane-based product for surface hydrophobisation of concrete, brick, stone and plasters. It penetrates deeply into the substrate and creates an invisible water-repellent barrier without forming a film.

Which Surfaces Is Hydro Stop Suitable For?

Hydro Stop impregnation is suitable for concrete, brick, sandstone, mineral plasters, aerated concrete, slate, clay products and façade sculptures.
It is not recommended for dense marble and limestone.

Can It Be Used for Facades?

Yes. It is an effective façade water repellent that protects against rain, efflorescence, dirt and frost damage.

What Is the Consumption Rate of Hydro Stop Water Repellent?

150–300 ml/m² per coat depending on the absorbency of the substrate.

Does the Product Create Gloss or a Film?

No. The coating does not form a film, does not change the surface texture and does not create any gloss.

Does a Water-Repellent Help Against Efflorescence?

Yes. A water-repellent reduces the water absorption of the substrate and blocks the penetration of atmospheric moisture, significantly lowering the risk of efflorescence on brick and concrete.

Important to understand:

  • Efflorescence consists of salts already present within the material.

  • They reach the surface together with moisture.

  • The impregnation does not remove existing efflorescence and is not a cleaning agent.

Before application it is necessary to:

  • completely remove efflorescence mechanically or with specialised cleaners;

  • dry the surface;

  • only then apply the water-repellent treatment.

⚠️ Note.
If moisture continuously rises into the wall from below (foundation, soil, lack of waterproofing), i.e. capillary rise occurs, surface hydrophobisation alone will not fully solve the problem. In such cases, proper horizontal or vertical waterproofing is required.

A water repellent acts as protection against atmospheric moisture but does not replace full structural waterproofing.

Can It Be Applied Indoors?

Yes, Hydro Stop by Bayris is suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

How to Apply a Water-Repellent Properly?

Apply using the “wet-on-wet” method with a brush, roller or spray at a temperature from +8°C to +30°C. Do not dilute with water.

Is This Product Safe?

Hydro Stop by TM BAYRIS has a low VOC content of no more than 9 g/l (limit up to 30 g/l), with no strong odour and no toxic components.

How to Distinguish an Original Product from a Counterfeit?

Due to the popularity of the water-repellent product on the market, cases of counterfeit goods have been recorded. It is recommended to:

  • purchase only from official partners

  • check labelling and packaging integrity

  • pay attention to label quality, technical information, batch number and production date marking
