Description and Properties

Paint for Galvanised Roofs and Slate Roofs TM “Bayris” is designed for painting roofs and products made of galvanised metal and slate, as well as brick, roof tiles, fibre-cement and asbestos-cement products. It may also be applied to previously primed ferrous metal, natural stone, timber and other suitable substrates. The roof paint forms a protective film that ensures long-term durability of the roof covering while enhancing the appearance of buildings. Thanks to its “liquid plastic” properties, the coating remains resistant to temperature fluctuations from -35°C to +50°C. Consumption is 250–300 g/m² for galvanised surfaces and 300–350 g/m² for slate surfaces (when applied in two coats). Touch dry after approximately 30 minutes, recoatable after 2 hours, with full curing achieved after 24 hours.

Surface Preparation for Galvanised Roofs

Clean the galvanised surface thoroughly to remove dirt, dust and any loose or flaking paint. Where corrosion is present, remove rust using a wire brush or mechanical sander. If the metal has corroded or has been previously painted, priming with GF-021 primer is recommended. Application to newly galvanised surfaces is not recommended.

Surface Preparation for Slate Roofs

Slate surfaces must be cleaned of dirt, dust, old paint residues, moss growth and other contamination. Prime with an acrylic deep-penetrating primer at a rate of 150 g/m². If the slate roof has been exposed for an extended period (more than 10 years) or has significant moss growth, after cleaning it should be treated with an antifungal product for mineral surfaces at a rate of 200 g/m² and then primed with an acrylic deep-penetrating primer at 150 g/m².

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before use. If necessary, dilute with clean water by no more than 10% of the paint weight. Apply in two coats using a brush, roller or spray equipment onto a dry surface at temperatures between +10°C and +35°C, allowing 2 hours between coats. A third coat may be applied if required.

WARNING!

Priming and painting must only be carried out on clean, dry substrates and under the climatic conditions specified above. Do not dilute the paint with any solvent other than water. Do not apply during damp or rainy weather. Slate roofs should not be painted sooner than 48 hours after rainfall.
