Description and properties
Water-based lime paint “Eco Home Plus” by TM “Bayris” is designed for decorative and protective painting of walls and ceilings in residential, commercial and public buildings with low traffic and light wear. Suitable for application on new or previously lime-painted surfaces made of cement, cement-lime and lime plasters, concrete, brick and plasterboard.
“Eco Home Plus” by TM “Bayris” is especially recommended for painting lime plasters and lime fillers. It can be applied to new or previously lime-painted surfaces based on cement, cement-lime and lime plasters, concrete, brick and plasterboard.
The lime paint is easy to apply and offers excellent hiding power. The finished coating is vapour permeable, matt (gloss level < 10 at an 85° angle) and medium-textured (containing a small amount of fine particles smaller than 300 μm). The contrast ratio (opacity) is Class 1 at a coverage rate of 5.5 m²/l. The coating effectively conceals minor surface imperfections, is resistant to gentle dry cleaning and provides excellent breathability. The paint also possesses natural antiseptic properties, helping to reduce the risk of mould, fungi and other biological growth.
Environmental benefits are confirmed in accordance with the international ISO 14024 standard.
Surface and product preparation
During storage, the paint develops a paste-like consistency; therefore, it should be thoroughly mixed with a low-speed mixer before application until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
Surface preparation should be carried out in accordance with applicable building standards. The substrate must be dry (moisture content not exceeding 4%), clean and free from dust, dirt and other contaminants. Lime and cement plasters should be allowed to cure for at least 14 days before painting. Previously varnished surfaces or those painted with oil- or alkyd-based paints should be sanded to create a rough surface and then cleaned of dust. Old chalk-based coatings and limewash should be completely removed, and uneven areas levelled with filler.
Areas affected by mould should be treated with “Bio Stop” by TM Bayris according to the instructions. After cleaning and dust removal, the surface should be primed with “Silikat Grunt” by TM Bayris to strengthen the substrate and equalise absorbency. Surfaces not intended for painting should be protected with masking film.
Application
Application should be carried out at substrate and ambient temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C, avoiding direct sunlight, and at relative humidity not exceeding 80%. Temperatures outside the recommended range or draughts during application may result in poor film formation.
“Eco Home Plus” lime paint by TM “Bayris” should be applied in two coats to a properly primed surface. Depending on the substrate and application conditions (temperature, humidity, porosity and substrate type), the first coat may be diluted with up to 10% water. Dilution of the finishing coat is not recommended. Please note that adding water always reduces the coating's performance properties. Apply using a brush, roller or spray equipment. When painting ceilings, work in the direction of incoming light (from the window). When painting walls, first apply the paint crosswise and then level the surface with vertical roller strokes. The final roller stroke should always be made in the same direction over the full height of the wall. The minimum interval between coats is 3–6 hours, depending on environmental conditions.
To ensure colour consistency on large surfaces, painting should be carried out continuously using the “wet-on-wet” method, using material from the same production batch or by mixing different batches together. Any interruptions should be made where joins will be least noticeable, such as in corners. The final appearance should be assessed only after the second coat has completely dried. Wash tools with water immediately after use.
Tinting
“Eco Home Plus” interior lime paint by TM “Bayris” can be tinted in light shades using alkali-resistant pigment pastes, either manually or by machine. Before tinting, compatibility between the paint and pigment should be checked by testing on a sample area and assessing colour uniformity after drying. The final colour develops only after the paint has fully dried.
Tinted paint cannot be returned or exchanged.
IMPORTANT!
Under normal conditions, the coating develops its full performance properties after 28 days. Intensive use of the painted surface should therefore be avoided during this period. The painted surface may be cleaned with a dry cloth.
The manufacturer guarantees that the paint meets the declared technical specifications. Any modification of the product composition, misuse of the product, or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions may significantly affect its performance. Suitability for specific substrates and compatibility with other materials should always be verified by trial application. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for direct or indirect damage resulting from use of the product, as application conditions are beyond its control.
VOC content
The VOC limit value for this product is 30 g/l. The ready-to-use product contains no more than 5 g/l VOC. VOC content complies with the requirements of the Technical Regulation on VOC emissions limitation (subcategory "1").
Health, safety and disposal
The paint has a highly alkaline composition. Keep out of reach of children. Wear a respirator, protective clothing and gloves during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water. Seek medical advice if necessary.
Dispose of waste in accordance with applicable regulations. Empty containers and liquid residues should be taken to authorised waste collection facilities.
