Purpose

Deep penetrating silicate primer "Silikat Grunt" PR3 TM "Bayris" is designed for the preparation of concrete, cement, cement-lime and lime plaster surfaces before decorative finishing with lime and silicate paints. It is especially effective for strengthening and reducing water absorption of mineral substrates such as plaster, screeds and silicate brick, and is also suitable for architectural restoration projects. The silicate primer "Silikat Grunt" TM "Bayris" can be used for both interior and exterior applications.

Characteristics

Deep penetrating silicate primer "Silikat Grunt" TM "Bayris" is ready to use, free from strong odours and toxic substances. The product deeply penetrates and strengthens the surface, equalises substrate absorbency and reduces the consumption of subsequent decorative and protective coatings. It improves adhesion of finishing materials to the substrate. After drying, it forms a transparent vapour-permeable coating. To achieve a “breathable wall” effect and an optimal indoor climate, it is recommended to use together with “Eco Home” lime paint by TM Bayris.

Surface preparation

Surface preparation should be carried out in accordance with applicable construction standards. The substrate must be visually clean, dry and free from loose particles. If necessary, clean the surface from dirt, dust, grease, traces of biological contamination and residues of oil-based, emulsion or lime paints.

Application

Prepare the working solution on site by mixing in a ratio of 1:4 (1 L of product to 4 L of clean or distilled water). Application should be carried out at substrate and ambient temperatures from +5°C to +30°C (avoiding direct sunlight) and relative air humidity between 50% and 80%. Before use, thoroughly mix the deep penetrating silicate primer "Silikat Grunt" PR3 TM "Bayris".

Apply evenly using the “wet-on-wet” method with a brush, roller, broom or spray equipment until the substrate is fully saturated. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Further finishing works may begin after 4–6 hours.

Attention! Any modification of the product composition, improper use or application not in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions may significantly affect product performance. The user is responsible for testing product suitability and compatibility with specific substrates and materials. The manufacturer shall not be liable for direct or indirect damages resulting from improper application conditions beyond its control.

Consumption

Approximate consumption: 0.15–0.25 L/m² per coat depending on the substrate type, absorbency, application method and tools used.

Safety precautions and disposal

Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Seek medical advice if necessary. Construction waste must not be disposed of in standard household waste containers. Dispose of waste materials in accordance with local environmental regulations. Containers and liquid residues should be delivered to specialised hazardous waste collection points.
