Description and properties
Wood Bioprotective Concentrate "Concentrat 1:9". Clear by Bayris is intended for the protection of structural timber elements (attic structures, timber frames, log constructions, roof truss systems, etc.) and construction timber (flooring, fences, gazebos, decking boards, posts, etc.) against biological deterioration. It prevents the development of algae, lichens, mosses, mould fungi and blue stain fungi. It is also used for protection against and prevention of wood-destroying insects. Suitable for domestic, professional and industrial use under Use Classes 1–4.1 in accordance with EN 335-1:2010 (the use class depends on the application method).
Wood Bioprotective Concentrate "Concentrat 1:9". Clear by Bayris is a colourless concentrated treatment containing fungicides, algicides, insecticides and performance-enhancing additives. It does not alter the colour of the timber after application, remains resistant to leaching during service life and provides effective long-term timber protection.
Characteristics
Wood Bioprotective Concentrate "Concentrat 1:9". Clear provides long-lasting protection against a wide range of biological threats. Suitable for both deep and surface impregnation of timber species with moderate to high absorbency. Does not alter the timber structure, does not cause chemical degradation of cellulose in the surface layer and does not form a polymer film or salt deposits. Classified as having low corrosive activity towards ferrous metals.
Application
Application should be carried out at substrate and ambient temperatures between +5°C and +25°C and at a relative air humidity of 50% to 75%. Stir thoroughly before use. The working solution should be prepared on site at a dilution ratio of 1:9 (1 litre of concentrate to 9 litres of clean or distilled water).
Surface preparation
The substrate must be visually clean, free from dust, signs of biological activity, stains and decay, and suitable for treatment (mechanically clean if required). The moisture content of the timber must not exceed 25%.
The application method depends on the required use class.
Timber protection should be carried out as follows:
- for Use Class 1 or 2: apply one or two coats using a brush, roller or spray application. A second coat should be applied after an intermediate drying period of at least 4 hours at 20°C;
- for Use Class 3: apply by immersion for a minimum of 6 hours. Double treatment requires an intermediate drying period of 24 hours at 20°C under cover;
- for Use Class 4: treatment should be carried out in autoclaves.
Immediately after use, clean tools with water. Areas where timber has been treated may be used after three days of intensive ventilation. Fixation time: under normal conditions, the treatment is fully fixed within the timber after 48 hours for Use Classes 1 and 2, and after at least 14 days for Use Classes 3 and 4. Once fully dry, the timber may be coated with any decorative or protective finish.
Coverage
220–350 ml/m² depending on timber species, application method, timber absorbency and the dimensions of the treated surface. Actual consumption may increase depending on the complexity of the timber elements, associated losses and timber moisture content.
Drying time: 4–6 hours depending on timber species and moisture content.
Please note! Any modification of the finished product composition, use of the product for purposes other than those intended and/or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions may significantly affect its performance characteristics. The suitability of the product for specific materials and/or compatibility with other materials must be determined by the user through trial application. The manufacturer shall not be liable for direct or indirect losses resulting from the use of the product, as it is unable to control all application conditions.
Health and safety / Disposal
When working with Wood Bioprotective Concentrate "Concentrat 1:9". Clear by Bayris, protective rubber gloves, safety goggles, protective clothing and a respirator should be worn. Eating and drinking during timber treatment is strictly prohibited. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Harmful if swallowed. Seek medical advice if necessary.
Construction waste must not be disposed of in general waste containers. Dispose of waste in accordance with DSTU 4462.3.01:2006 requirements. Empty containers and liquid residues should be taken to authorised hazardous waste collection facilities.
