Application

Bayris Plasticiser for Insulation Systems is a special anti-frost additive designed to modify the properties of dry construction mixes, allowing façade insulation works with polystyrene foam, extruded polystyrene and mineral wool during the autumn-spring period and in conditions where temperatures may drop, for example at night. The plasticiser is suitable for all cement-based adhesive mixes used for fixing thermal insulation system components and does not affect their final performance characteristics.

Characteristics

Bayris Anti-Frost Plasticiser for Insulation Systems preserves the properties of applied adhesive mixes during temperature fluctuations from 0 °C to -8 °C, accelerates adhesive setting time and lowers the crystallisation temperature of water. It enables the development of the minimum required early strength while improving the final strength, density and waterproofing performance of the finished coating. The use of this additive reduces water demand during adhesive preparation by up to 30%, increases workability and improves ease of application.

Application Instructions

Before use, thoroughly mix the anti-frost additive for insulation systems.

The plasticiser should be added directly to the adhesive mix together with the mixing water. Reduce the amount of mixing water by 20–30%; the exact amount should be determined experimentally. To achieve this, add half of the recommended amount of water together with the plasticiser to the adhesive mix (following the recommended dosage), then gradually add the remaining water until the required adhesive workability is achieved.

Attention! The minimum temperature of the adhesive mix must be +5 °C. Apply at ambient temperatures from 0 °C to +25 °C and relative humidity above 50%.

Manufacturer’s Guarantee: the manufacturer guarantees that the plasticiser complies with the declared technical characteristics and accepts no liability for use of the material for purposes or under conditions not specified in these instructions. These instructions are advisory in nature and do not replace the professional skills of the applicator.

Warning!

Do not add the additive directly to dry components.

Important! When using this additive, especially at low temperatures, in addition to these instructions it is necessary to comply with all applicable regulations for thermal insulation systems, including the requirement not to carry out insulation works at temperatures below 0 °C. After completion of the work, temperatures may drop to -8 °C.

Consumption

0.5 L per 25 kg of adhesive mix.

Safety Measures

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water. Seek medical advice if necessary.

Disposal

Dispose of waste in accordance with applicable waste management regulations. Containers and liquid material residues should be taken to a construction waste collection site or a designated hazardous waste collection facility. Do not dispose of construction waste in general household waste containers.

FAQ
What Is an Anti-Frost Plasticiser for Façades?

BAYRIS Anti-Frost Plasticiser is a specialised additive for cement-based adhesives used in façade insulation systems. It allows work to be carried out at reduced temperatures down to –8°C and accelerates the setting of the adhesive mix.

What Types of Mixes Is the Additive Suitable For?

This anti-frost plasticiser is designed exclusively for use with cement-based adhesives for expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), and mineral wool insulation boards.

Can it be added to acrylic or silicone renders?

No. This product is designed exclusively for use with cement-based tile adhesives. For façade renders and plasters (acrylic, silicone and similar systems), specialised additives with different formulations should be used.

At What Temperatures Should It Be Used?

Application can be carried out at ambient temperatures between 0°C and +25°C. After the adhesive layer has been applied, temperatures may fall to as low as –8°C.

Can It Be Used Without Following Temperature Requirements?

No. The minimum temperature of the adhesive mix must be +5°C. Work at temperatures below 0°C is not permitted unless the façade is adequately protected.

How Does This Additive Affect Adhesive Properties?

This anti-frost additive for façade insulation systems reduces water demand by up to 30%, improves the workability of the mix, accelerates early strength development, and increases the final strength and density of the adhesive.

How Should the Admixture Be Added to the Mix?

BAYRIS Anti-Frost Plasticiser for Façades should be added together with the mixing water and thoroughly blended. Do not add the product directly to the dry mix.

What Is the Coverage Rate of Anti-Frost Plasticiser?

The recommended dosage is 0.5 L per 25 kg of adhesive mix. The exact amount should be determined through trial application under site conditions.
