Description and properties
Anti-Corrosion Primer-Enamel “3 in 1 KORROSIONSSCHUTZ” by TM “Bayris” (“3 in 1 with Rust Converter”) is an alkyd-based primer-enamel designed for coating ferrous metal surfaces (steel, cast iron and iron) used both outdoors and indoors, including metal structures, equipment, agricultural machinery, railway wagons, lifting cranes, pipes, tanks, gates, wickets, doors, furniture and similar applications.
Bayris Rust Converter Paint is a high-performance and highly effective coating thanks to its zinc-containing active formula. The product was developed and tested in Germany.
The anti-corrosion primer-enamel with rust converter is a professional, technologically advanced product that is easy to apply and offers excellent hiding power. The coating is weather-resistant and forms a smooth, even and durable finish. It is resistant to water and detergents and protects surfaces from exposure to sunlight and rain. A palette of 9 popular colours, closely matched to RAL shades, satisfies the requirements of even the most demanding users.
Product and surface preparation
If necessary, the primer-enamel may be diluted with “Lösungsmittel Bayris” solvent to a suitable working viscosity, but by no more than 10% by weight. Stir thoroughly before use.
Before painting, the surface must be cleaned of old coatings, rust, mill scale, dirt, dust and grease. New surfaces must always be degreased. Previously rusted surfaces should be cleaned using a wire brush or a drill fitted with a suitable wire-brush attachment to completely remove loose rust, then degreased.
The enamel may be applied directly to firmly bonded rust layers up to 100 μm thick. The surface must be dry before application.
Application
Apply the primer-enamel using a roller, brush or spray equipment. During application, the temperature of the substrate, product and surrounding environment must not be below +5°C, and relative humidity must not exceed 80%.
Drying time for each coat at +22°C and 55% relative humidity:
• Dust dry: 6 hours
• Fully dry: 12 hours
Drying times will increase at lower temperatures. Product consumption for a single coat is 100–180 g/m².
Safety precautions
Flammable liquid and vapour. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces. No smoking.
Read the instructions and product labelling before use. Keep out of reach of children. Use only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.
VOC content
The VOC limit value for this product is 500 g/L. The ready-to-use product contains no more than 400 g/L VOC.
