Application

Designed for creating a "Bark Beetle" textured finish on both new and existing mineral and concrete substrates of any type, including lime-based and silicate surfaces, providing long-term protection and preservation. Recommended as a finishing coat in areas exposed to challenging atmospheric conditions, including high rainfall, aggressive industrial emissions, road dust and coastal environments. It is also suitable as a system component for the protection of mineral wool insulation boards. Suitable for creating durable, wear-resistant interior surfaces.

Properties

The ready-to-use material is a white, odourless, paste-like render that combines outstanding performance characteristics. It forms a highly elastic coating reinforced with microfibres, preventing microcracking during severe frost conditions and ensuring integrity even across large surface areas. The material is characterised by excellent adhesion, water resistance, carbon dioxide permeability and exceptional resistance to mould and fungal growth. It is one of the most durable and long-lasting render systems available. It is resistant to weathering and aggressive UV exposure. The coating structure is self-cleaning and provides excellent thermal retention. The material is tinted throughout the mass, offers excellent opacity and is easy to apply. The finished render can be repainted.

Composition
Water-based acrylic copolymer dispersion, a blend of silicone emulsions, coarse mineral aggregates, reinforcing microfibres and special performance additives. Free from organic solvents. Water is used as the diluent.

Drying Time
24 hours at an air temperature of (20±2) °C and relative humidity not exceeding 65%. Fully cured and suitable for repainting after 2–3 days.

Coverage
For a 2.0 mm grain size, the coverage rate is 2.8 kg/m² on an even surface. Actual consumption should be determined by carrying out a trial application on a small or inconspicuous section of the wall.

Tinting
Suitable for machine tinting according to Spirit, NCS, RAL, Monicolor and Caparol 3D colour charts. Do not use materials from different batch numbers on the same wall. The tinting base is indicated on the packaging lid.

Surface Preparation

The substrate must be properly prepared, level, sufficiently strong, free from delamination and biological contamination, and must always be primed. The substrate moisture content must not exceed 10%. Cement renders must be cured for at least 14 days, filled surfaces for at least 3 days, and insulation system base coats for at least 7 days. Priming must be carried out using Bayris Silicone Quartz Primer with quartz aggregate. The primer should be tinted to match the selected finishing coat colour. Highly absorbent, porous or weak substrates should first be treated with Bayris Deep Penetrating Primer. Surfaces affected by microorganisms should be mechanically cleaned and additionally treated with Bayris BIOSTOP Antiseptic Primer.

Application Method

Apply at substrate and ambient temperatures between +8°C and +25°C and relative humidity not exceeding 80%. Stir thoroughly before use without introducing air into the material. If necessary, dilute with water by no more than 2%. Apply evenly without gaps or build-up to a thickness equal to the grain size using a trowel. Spread the material across the surface in the same manner as filler until slight grooves and scratches appear. Allow the material to reach its initial set, when it no longer sticks to the tool, then create the desired texture across the entire wet layer. Texture the surface using a plastic float in vertical, horizontal or circular movements. The texture may also be created using any suitable tool that scratches, imprints or patterns the surface.

Important!

Clean rendering tools using cloths only. Keep containers tightly closed. Stir the material periodically during use. Large wall areas are best rendered by two operatives: one applies the material while the second follows behind to create the texture. Wash tools immediately with water after use. During application and curing, protect the surface from direct sunlight, rain, wind and frost until the material has fully hardened.
