1. Using the Wrong Thinner

The most common mistake is using white spirit or solvent naphtha.

Consequences:

2. Insufficient Stirring

The metallic pigment settles at the bottom of the can.

If the paint is not stirred for 2–3 minutes:

• the 3D effect will be weaker

• the texture may become uneven

• staining may occur

3. Applying Excessively Thick Coats

Hammered paint should be applied in thin coats.

Excessive film thickness may lead to:

• runs and sags

• loss of texture definition

• uneven texture formation

4. Incorrect Recoat Timing

The second coat should be applied:

• either within the first 2 hours

• or after full curing

Otherwise, surface waviness may occur.

5. Painting at Incorrect Temperatures

Temperatures below +10°C or high humidity:

• slow down curing

• may cause surface defects

6. Brush Application on Large Surfaces

Due to the relatively fast drying time, achieving a uniform finish can be difficult.
