Application

Bayris Deep Penetrating Primer is designed for penetrating and priming mineral substrates before the application of insulating, decorative and protective coatings on walls, ceilings, floors and roofs. It is applied to consolidate and strengthen highly absorbent, porous and weak substrates, including aerated concrete, lightweight concrete, hygroscopic plasters, parquet subfloors and similar surfaces. The primer improves the water resistance of substrates such as brickwork, plaster, concrete, slate and roof tiles, while enhancing adhesion between the substrate and subsequent coatings, including renders, fillers, wallpaper adhesives, parquet systems, paints and similar finishing materials. Suitable for both interior and exterior use.

Properties

The primer penetrates deeply into the micro-pores of the substrate, strengthens the surface, reduces and equalises absorbency, and minimises the risk of cracking and efflorescence. Once dry, it forms a water-repellent film with excellent adhesion properties while remaining vapour permeable. It improves the durability and protective performance of the entire coating system against mechanical wear and atmospheric influences. In liquid form, the primer is milky white in colour.

Surface Preparation

The substrate must be level, visually clean, dry, free from dust, loose material and oily coatings, and suitable for treatment.

Application Method

Apply at substrate and ambient temperatures between +8°C and +25°C and relative humidity between 50% and 75%. Apply using a brush, roller or spray equipment in two consecutive coats. Allow a minimum interval of 2–3 hours between coats. Clean tools immediately with water after use. Subsequent finishing works may be carried out 24 hours after completion of priming.
