Application
Bayris Anti-Frost Lime Substitute “For Masonry and Plastering Work” is a special anti-frost additive designed for the preparation of cement-based masonry and plastering mortars, allowing work to be carried out at low and sub-zero ambient temperatures. It is used for laying all types of brick, aerated concrete and foam concrete blocks, as well as for exterior and interior plastering applications.
Characteristics
Bayris Anti-Frost Lime Substitute “For Masonry and Plastering Work” is an additive that creates a large number of closed air pores within the structure of freshly prepared mortar during mixing, while also accelerating setting time and lowering the crystallisation temperature of water. These properties make it possible to carry out work at low and sub-zero temperatures. The additive prevents mortar segregation, maintains workability during technological pauses, and improves plasticity and ease of application. It enables the development of the minimum required early strength while improving the final strength, density and waterproofing performance of the finished coating. The anti-frost lime substitute increases the frost resistance of masonry and plaster layers while maintaining vapour permeability, creating a “breathable plaster” effect. Prevents efflorescence, cracking and staining, and does not cause corrosion of steel reinforcement. Helps reduce the cost of mortar preparation, construction work and transportation services.
Application Instructions
Apply at ambient temperatures between +25 °C and -10 °C and relative humidity above 50%.
Before use, carefully stir the anti-frost plasticiser (lime substitute). Slight sediment formation in the additive is acceptable. Ensure even distribution of the additive by thorough mixing. Add directly to the mortar or plaster mix together with the mixing water. Reduce the amount of mixing water by 20–30%; the exact amount should be determined experimentally. To achieve this, add half of the recommended amount of water together with the additive (following the recommended dosage), then gradually add the remaining water until the required workability of the mix is achieved. The minimum temperature of the mix must be +5 °C.
Warning!
Do not add the additive directly to dry components.
When using this additive, especially at low temperatures, all applicable regulations and standards must be observed in addition to these instructions.
The manufacturer guarantees that the plasticiser complies with the declared technical characteristics and accepts no liability for use of the material for purposes or under conditions not specified in these instructions. These instructions are advisory in nature and do not replace the professional skills of the applicator.
Consumption
Temperature range from +5 ˚C to -5 ˚C: (0.6–0.8) L per 50 kg of cement. Temperature range from +5 ˚C to -10 ˚C: (1.2–1.5) L per 50 kg of cement.
Safety Measures and Disposal
Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water. Seek medical advice if necessary.
Dispose of waste in accordance with applicable waste management regulations. Containers and liquid material residues should be taken to a construction waste collection site or a designated hazardous waste collection facility. Do not dispose of construction waste in general household waste containers.
