Available Packaging and Coverage
14 kg (0.250–0.280) kg/m² per coat depending on the substrate and application method.
Purpose
“Quartz Grunt” Acrylic Primer TM “Bayris” is designed for preliminary priming and reinforcement of prepared substrates before applying acrylic decorative plasters, “PROFI” series paints and mineral plasters. Suitable for both interior and exterior use. It may also be used as a moisture-protective layer for plastered surfaces or as a temporary standalone coating for preserving external thermal insulation systems during the winter period. Suitable for application on concrete substrates, cement-lime and cement-sand plasters, gypsum surfaces, brickwork, walls and ceilings.
Properties
The environmental benefits of the product are confirmed in accordance with the requirements of the international standard DSTU ISO 14024. The primer does not cause allergic reactions or irritation. Free from strong odours and highly toxic substances. The material forms an ultra-durable rough layer on both smooth, low-absorption surfaces and porous, water-absorbing unpainted substrates, ensuring enhanced adhesion of subsequent finishing layers. High adhesion significantly facilitates the application and texturing of decorative plasters. The resulting coating helps prevent staining and reduces the risk of colour variation in the plaster layer. “Quartz Grunt” Acrylic Primer improves water resistance, frost resistance and the durability of the substrate. In liquid form the primer is milky white; once dry, the coating becomes white.
Composition – Aqueous dispersion of acrylic copolymer, quartz and marble fillers, and special additives. Free from organic solvents.
Drying time – Approximately 24 hours before applying the next layer, depending on conditions.
Coverage – (0.250–0.280) kg/m² per coat depending on the substrate and application method. Exact consumption should be determined for each specific application.
Tinting – Suitable for machine tinting according to Spirit, NCS, RAL, Monicolor and Caparol 3D colour charts.
Surface Preparation
The substrate must be level, solid, visually clean, dry, free from dust, peeling layers, oil, chalk, glue, lime and silicone-based coatings, and suitable for treatment. When using tinted plasters, the material should be tinted to match the selected finish coat colour. Highly absorbent, porous or weak substrates should first be treated with a strengthening deep penetrating primer “BAYRIS”. Surfaces affected by microorganisms must be mechanically cleaned, dried and additionally treated with “BIOSTOP” antiseptic primer “BAYRIS”.
Application
Application works should be carried out at substrate and ambient temperatures between +8 °C and +25 °C and relative humidity between 50% and 80%. Before use, thoroughly mix the primer to a uniform consistency using a low-speed mixer. If necessary, the material may be diluted with water by no more than 3%. Apply using a brush, roller or paint brush. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Further finishing works may be carried out 24 hours after priming, provided the resulting coating is resistant to scratching with a metal tool.
Warning
During application, protect the material from direct sunlight, rain and wind until fully dry.
