Description & Application
Two-component water-based epoxy polymer concrete EPOXY ART-DECO within the EPOXY PRO range by TM "Bayris" is applied as a protective coating for concrete, heavy-duty industrial floors, as well as for decorative finishing of floors, stairs, and walls in residential and commercial premises. Suitable for use in industrial areas (including the food industry), healthcare, and educational facilities. The coating features exceptionally high resistance to mechanical stress, abrasion, and impacts, with excellent chemical resistance and waterproofing properties. Designed for interior use on concrete, ceramic tiles, and other mineral substrates.
Product Modifications:
- EPOXY ART-DECO ST300 (Base/Scratch Coat): Used for initial surface levelling and creating large-format, seamless, highly durable coatings. Available in 10.5 kg packaging as Base A and Base C.
- EPOXY ART-DECO F50 (Finish Coat): Used for creating textured decorative coatings with a concrete effect. Applied over the EPOXY ART-DECO ST300 base coat or onto a pre-treated surface primed with EPOXY PRIMER by TM "Bayris". Available in 10.5 kg packaging as Base A and Base C. For additional protection and a matt decorative finish, the surface can be sealed with PU-PRO polyurethane varnish by TM "Bayris".
Composition & Eco-Compliance
The product consists of two components:
- Component A (Base): Polymer concrete matrix (modified polyamine, fillers, pigments, and multifunctional additives). Do not use separately as a standalone product!
- Component B (Hardener): Reacts chemically with the base to form a thermosetting coating (modified epoxy resin).
VOC content complies with statutory environmental regulations limiting VOC emissions (subcategory 1, threshold limit up to 30 g/l, maximum actual ready-to-use content up to 20 g/l).
Technical Characteristics & Tinting
The cured coating is white, textured, satin-finish, highly resistant to mechanical loads, chemical exposure, temperature fluctuations, and repeated heavy washing. Provides superior adhesion performance.
Polymer concrete can be tinted manually using EPOXY COLOR A pigment concentrates by TM "Bayris" or machine-tinted via the EPOXY BAYRIS COLOR SYSTEM:
- Base A: Used as a white polymer concrete with high opacity and for tinting into light shades.
- Base C: Used for tinting into deep, vibrant, high-intensity colours.
To avoid shade discrepancies, it is recommended to use products from the same batch for the final finishing coat (or intermix different batches prior to application).
Directions for Use & Surface Preparation
1. Surface Preparation: The substrate must be sound, dry, clean, free from dust, oil, grease, or contaminants that could impair adhesion. Substrate surface tensile strength must be at least 1.5 N/mm², and compressive strength at least 25 N/mm². Moisture content of concrete or screed substrates must not exceed 6% by weight. Prepare the surface by diamond grinding or abrasive sanding before application. Fill cracks using EPOXY FLOOR ADHESIVE or EPOXY-FIX epoxy repair mortar by TM "Bayris". Priming with EPOXY PRIMER by TM "Bayris" is recommended.
2. Mixing: Add Component B to the container with Component A and mix thoroughly using a mechanical paddle mixer at low speed (250–350 rpm) for 10 minutes. Mixing ratio A:B = 100:19.4 parts by weight (83.7% Component A to 16.3% Component B). When tinting, introduce EPOXY COLOR A pigment into Component A and mix for 5–10 minutes until fully dispersed prior to adding the hardener.
To adjust working viscosity, up to 10% clean water (by weight) may be added strictly to the fully pre-mixed A+B mixture. Please note: adding water reduces the final physical performance of the coating.
Pot Life: Mixed polymer concrete must be applied within 90 minutes (at +20 °C).
3. Application: Apply to the primed substrate in 1–2 coats using a squeegee, trowel, or notched trowel at ambient and surface temperatures between +8 °C and +30 °C, with relative air humidity not exceeding 80% (substrate temperature must be at least 3 °C above the dew point). Recoating interval between layers at +20 °C is 16 to 48 hours.
4. Surface Aftercare: The coating achieves full mechanical strength after 7 days. Avoid aggressive cleaning until fully cured. Once cured, clean using water or warm soapy water with a soft sponge or cloth.
Safety Precautions & Storage Conditions
DANGER! Harmful if swallowed (H302). Causes severe skin burns and eye damage (H314, H318). May cause an allergic skin reaction (H317). Keep out of reach of children (P102). Read label before use (P103). Wear protective gloves and eye/face protection (P280). IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes; remove contact lenses if present and easy to do; continue rinsing (P305+P351+P338). IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water (P302+P352). Dispose of contents/container in accordance with statutory regulations (P501).
